Miko Veldkamp (Paramaribo, 1982)
Miko Veldkamp was a Hodder Fellow at Princeton University and lives and works in New York. He makes his paintings in one fluent movement. While he makes sketches beforehand, in the studio he only works from memory to create a pure representation of his mental image. He combines classic painterly themes like light, space and movement in a seemingly effortless way, in which he pays special attention to sceneries that are often overlooked.
